50/50 Martini Recipe – One of the world’s most delicately perfumed gins, this one is ideal for a dry martini. In the case of a 50/50 Martini, the taste of dry vermouth will be very present. The taste of dry vermouth is sometimes described as similar to a green apple or to a gewurtzraminer wine. Choose your dry vermouth wisely. My favourite is Noilly Prat. 5050 Martini: Try it and leave your comments!
Equipment
- 1 mixing glass
- 1 cocktail strainer
- 1 bar spoon
Ingredients
- 45 ml Star of Bombay Gin
- 45 ml Noilly Prat
- 2 ml orange bitters
Instructions
- Combine ingredients in a mixing glass filled with ice
- Allow ice to dilute the cocktail for 30-60 seconds
- Strain through a very fine sieve and pour into a martini glass
- Garnish with orange peel
Notes
This is a rather sweet martini, as there is a lot of dry vermouth in it. Here, the orange bitters obviously go with the garnish. So it’s easy to have fun with this martini. Lime zest? Lime bitters. Lemon zest? Lemon bitters. And so on…
