DISH – Herring – Andrew Zimmern Copenhagen

WHAT IS IT?

Fried fresh herring with a special paste of mustard and caviar, folded, rolled in flour and fried. A sauce made with sweet vinegar and seasonings is then added.

Note:

There are plenty of varieties of this dish and this restaurant serves a special one: herring fillets are seasoned with salt, sugar, onions, dill and red sandalwood. The fillet is soaked into the seasonings for 24 hours before consumption.

DISH – Salty Licorice – Bizarre Foods Delicious Destinations Copenhagen

WHAT IS IT?

A soft salty candy made from licorice root, ammonium fluoride and sea salt. The iconic sweet has a variety of favor layers such as peach, sea salt and white chocolate. (NDLR: There’s also an alcoholic liqueur with the same flavour sold across the country called Ga-Jol!)
