Equipment

  • 1 shaker
  • 1 Old fashioned glass
  • 1 Large ice cube (Optional)
  • 1 Bar spoon or regular teaspoon
  • 1 fine mesh sieve

Ingredients
  

  • 60 ml Bourbon
  • 30 ml Freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 30 ml Simple syrup to taste
  • 30 ml Red wine (Preferably fruity and light)
  • 1 Lemon peel (Approx. 1cm x 4cm)

Instructions
 

  • In a shaker filled with ice, put the bourbon, lemon juice and simple syrup
  • Shake vigorously for about 10 seconds
  • In an Old Fashioned glass, put a large ice cube (or omit the ice cube if you don't have a large one)
  • Pour the mixture through a fine sieve and into the glass
  • Then, take a spoon, turn it upside down, dip the tip of the spoon into the cocktail and gently drip the red wine over the back of the spoon
  • The red wine should remain suspended above the bourbon
  • Garnish with lemon zest and serve.
