DISH – Pastries and Coffee
WHAT IS IT?
Anthony Bourdain’s first treat in Rio de Janeiro was pastries and coffee at Confeiteira Colombo, he rants about opening the episode at a pastry shop.

Anthony said that the Confeitaria Colombo is a turn-of-the-century coffee house located in Rio’s central district which means on weekends it’s completely deserted.
DISH – Beer and Grilled Meat
WHAT IS IT?
Beer, grilled sausage, chicken, onions. All the major food groups as Anthony said.
When the meats and onions are done grilling, they pile it on the sandwich and then they put a spoonful of cilantro salsa at the top.
“Life is lookin’ up!” as said by Anthony as he receives his meat sandwich and beer at the beach.

DISH – “Real Carioca Food”
WHAT IS IT?
First for the appetizer, Anthony Bourdain had a drink called Cachaça which is a popular spirit in Brazil. He then had beer.
Next up is Carne Seca or dried beef and manioc. It is made by frying some onions and garlic in oil, add some cilantro and then the dried beef. The manioc is deep fried.
Lastly, the pork rinds are made by frying pork skin.

DISH – “Bahian Seafood” – Anthony Bourdain Rio De Janeiro
WHAT IS IT?
When Anthony Bourdain is in the Market St Peter in Rio de Janeiro, he met a Baiana. She invited him to her restaurant.
First is soup, made of squid, shrimp, octopus and shredded fish.
Next up is deep fried roe of corvina fish.
After that is fresh shrimp in tomato cilantro sauce.
Lastly, a tender octopus with toasted garlic.
“My new friend is definitely taking me to the right place–well, her place in this case.”

Anthony explains that feijoada is made from meat scraps like neck and tail cooked in a pressure cooker.
