Best Breweries In Toronto — The Ultimate List!

While Toronto might not be the most famous or recognised craft beer city in the world, some of the best breweries in Toronto are worth a visit. Whether you’re a craft beer aficionado or starting your journey in the world of unique brews, follow this list to find the best breweries in Toronto, Ontario, Canada — according to ME!

Blood Brothers

This brewery — set in an old stable near the train tracks on Geary Avenue — is the #1 most sought-after beer brewed within Toronto proper. The tap room itself offers a large space, dartboards, shuffleboard, and regular concerts. Just like the beers offered, the food menu — created by Beast, another well-known local establishment — is ever-changing. And the number of superb cans to bring home is impressive.

Collective Arts

While the brewery itself is from Hamilton, Collective Arts has a taproom on Queen St. West in Toronto. Their beers have become legendary: in fact, I’ve spotted, in the past, its Guava Gose in taprooms as far as Tokyo. Pretty much everything they make is worth a sip! Oh, and the coffee and pastries are really good too, so if you’re looking for a café in which to relax and work in the early afternoon, Collective Arts is a hidden gem.

Bellwoods

It’s one of Toronto’s first craft breweries. When I was a young man — 2017, to be exact — I used to say that the food at the pub is better than the beers on offer. That’s not true anymore. In fact, they’ve expanded quite a bit since then — both in square footage and in beer creation — and some of their most adventurous brews are worth the detour. And that patio in the summer is one of the most comfortable. Plus, it’s located smack dab in the middle of the most bustling section of Ossington Avenue. A must!

Godspeed

Bim Lafontaine is a legendary brewmaster. He’s the man who birthed Péché Mortel, a famous coffee imperial stout he created while he worked at Dieu Du Ciel! in St-Jérôme and Montréal. After trying to open a craft brewery in Tokyo, he returned to Canada to open Godspeed, which quickly became one of the best breweries In Toronto. The brewery specialises in making classic beers as perfectly as possible. Start your journey with their different Czech-inspired brews.

Bandit Brewery

Bandit offers, first and foremost, a gorgeous space. The glass-walled patio, wood-barrelled space inside as well as its industrial-chic bar are beautiful works of design. And if you’re lucky enough to find some of their smoothie beers on offer — either on tap or in cans to go — you’ll probably fall in love with Bandit Brewery.

Left Field

One of my favourite, easy-to-find Ontarian craft beers is Left Field’s oatmeal brown called Eephus. They also make great darker beers. And I prefer the Leslieville taproom, which is full of character, over the one in Liberty Village.

Henderson’s

The tap room’s right in the factory! It’s got cool industrial vibes, and while Henderson’s known for its solid amber ale called Henderson’s Best, its seasonal brews are worth trying out.

Burdock

One of the most entertaining things to do in Toronto is to visit Kensington Market, either during the day or at night. It’s Toronto’s most vibrant neighbourhood. And Burdock’s just opened a bottle shop right across from Bellevue Park. Note: it is illegal to drink alcohol in public in Toronto, either on the streets or in Bellevue Park. Burdock also has a taproom with a gorgeous patio on a very nice strip of Bloor Street West.

Rorschach Brewery

This one’s really popular among the geekiest of craft beer aficionados. It’s a bit out of the way and they really push hard on the creativity scale. Feeling truly adventurous? You’ll love Rorschach!
