Best Ice Hotels – The IceHotel in Jukkasjarvi, Sweden

Located in northern Sweden, IceHotel was the first ice hotel in the world to open its doors. It offers a good fifty rooms and requires nearly 40 000 tons of ice and snow to create it.

Opened 23 years ago, it welcomes visitors from December to April. The IceHotel visitors are amazed by its scenery, as well as its museum and its ice cathedral. Also offering weddings and meetings for companies, it is distinguished by its gigantic dimensions, ideal to accommodate a large number of visitors at the same time.

Best Ice Hotels – The Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel in Alta, Norway

Opened for 14 years, this hotel offers a little of everything: shops, saunas, meeting rooms, restaurant, bar, fireplaces, a cathedral and even a museum. It is open from January to April and proposes to organize weddings and business meetings.

Situated in the northernmost part of Norway, near the Alta River, the hotel is ideal for enjoying the Northern Lights. It also offers ephemeral works of art, present throughout the establishment. It helps to be in Norway winter clothing when visiting the hotel.

Ice and Snow Hotel: L’Hôtel de Glace, Quebec, Canada

Built on nearly 3000 square meters and designed with 15,500 tons of ice and snow, the Quebec Ice Hotel has 44 rooms. It is open from January to April. The hotel is currently celebrating its 15th anniversary.

Located next to the Ylläsjärvi lake, the Norwegian hotel opened its doors 13 years ago. On more than 3000 square meters, it offers courageous customers 23 rooms made of ice and snow. For the less reckless, there are also 2 rooms at usual temperature.

The hotel is open from December to April and offers a bar, a sauna, a museum and a restaurant. Large ice sculptures are installed inside and outside. They even have toboggans for fun outside! In addition to organizing weddings, the snow villiage offers activities such as ice sculpting classes or snowmobile tours.

Ice and Snow Hotel: The SnowCastle in Kemi, Finland

Located on the Finnish coast, the SnowCastle is the largest of the ice hotels. It is built on a surface of approximately 20,000 square meters and has about twenty rooms. It celebrates 20 years of operation this year. Open from January to April, the hotel has a bar, a restaurant, a shop, a museum and a cathedral, to accommodate couples wishing to get married in a magical atmosphere.

Ice and Snow Hotel: The Kirkenes SnowHotel in Kirkenes, Norway

Not far from the Finnish border and the Russian border, the Kirkenes SnowHotel is the most northern ice hotel in the world. Opened in 2006, the hotel is located in one of the most beautiful areas of Norway. It has 20 rooms of ice that all have a different theme. The décor and sculptures are inspired by Arctic culture.

The Kirkenes SnowHotel also offers activities such as dog sledding, ice fishing or hiking.
