The great Anthony Bourdain left his mark everywhere he went. When his death was announced to the world in June 2018, media throughout the globe chimed in and listed all the great things he had done for their respective city, town, province, country. Whereas before, tourists would shy away from exotic foods, thanks to him, travellers now go the extra mile to find and try local bites. With this in mind, here are all the restaurants Bourdain visited and the dishes he tasted when he shot Anthony Bourdain New Jersey for his show, Parts Unknown Season 5 Episode 6 (originally aired May 31, 2015):

DISH – Hot Dogs, Cheeseburger and Fries

WHAT IS IT?

A hot dog sandwich, hamburger topped with cheese and French Fries.

Hiram’s opened in 1932 and Anthony Bourdain observed it was pretty much unchanged since he last visited.

DISH – Clam Chowder, Clams in Drawn Butter and Clam Strips

WHAT IS IT?

Clam Chowder contains clams and broth. Clams in Drawn Butter are steamer clams with melted butter. Clam Strips refer to deep-fried battered clams.

DISH – Lump Crab Meat

WHAT IS IT?

Crab meat from broken pieces of the large muscles in the swimming legs of a crab. It can also include other flake pieces of crabs.

Opened in 1912, The Knife and Fork Inn was originally a dining and drinking club for men. After more than a century, it continues to serve great food in Atlantic City and welcomes all diners. Here, Anthony Bourdain enjoyed a dish of Pretzel-crusted Swordfish over Lump Crab Cake.

DISH – Crab Cakes, Stuffed Lobster and Pommes Soufflé

WHAT IS IT?

Crab Cake is a kind of fishcake made of crab meat. Stuffed Lobster can either be baked, broiled or steamed. Its belly is then opened and stuffed, usually with lobster meat, crab meat, and others. Pommes Soufflé is often known as the ultimate potato chips, where potato slices are fried two times until they puff up and become golden brown.

Anthony Bourdain described Dock’s Oyster House as “an establishment that has survived prohibition, the great depression, two world wars, numerous declines and rebirths… A symbol of what Atlantic City was… and could be again.” Here, he feasted on Crab Cakes, Lobster Stuffed with Crab Imperial, and Pommes Soufflé.

DISH – Pizza, and Spaghetti with Meatballs

WHAT IS IT?

Pizza has a base of flattened dough, topped with tomato sauce, cheese, and a variety of ingredients. Spaghetti with Meatballs is a classic Italian-American dish of spaghetti, meatballs and tomato sauce.
